Key Stage 1 (KS1) represents the first two years of the Primary phase.

During the transition from our Reception class to a Year One class, we will be supporting the children as they adjust from a curriculum which is differently organised and structured. There will be assistance for those children who have not yet reached all the goals of the EYFS and for all children there will be progression and continuity.

In Year One, children are taught via interesting cross-curricular topics that encompass the learning and development areas of Key Stage 1 (Primary): English; Mathematics; Science, Geography; PSHE and Citizenship; Physical Education and the Arts - Music, Drama and Creativity.

In keeping with our school's global aims and philosophy, we value and place a balanced emphasis on the acquisition of an understanding of Chinese culture, language and numeracy. Every afternoon will include a lesson that is conducted in Mandarin; through the year this will include character recognition, reading and writing and also Pinyin lessons.
