Early Years Foundation Stage: (2-5 years)

Early Years Foundation Stage: Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception

At SCLK we strongly believe that the education and experience for all children in the early years should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure. We believe all children have the right to thrive in an environment where they feel safe enough to take risks, ask questions, make mistakes and are encouraged to embrace their individuality. It is our aim to help children find their voice, follow their interests and encourage a passion for learning.

Our Early Years programme lays a solid foundation for our young learners. Our Early Childhood Curriculum based upon the EYFS framework ensures that our play based thematic programme supports development in key areas such as Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal Social and Emotional Development, Literacy Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Our nurturing environment fosters curiosity and a positive attitude toward learning, helping our children to embrace education as an exciting journey.
Most importantly children are helped to define their own personalities within a social context; making new friends and learning about tolerance, kindness and caring for themselves, each other and their environment.

We want our children to be excited by the world around them and explore their cultural identity which they can share and celebrate with others.

The EYFS starts in the Nursery year level, transitions through to the Kindergarten year level and on into our Reception year level. By end of our Reception year level (4 -5 yr olds), most children will have achieved certain early learning goals, depending on their age and stage of development.
