At Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten we ensure constant vigilance to security and safety. To enable us to do this:

• We ask that parents or others who have the responsibility for bringing children to/from the Kindergarten carry their ID cards at all times and present them when required.
• Parents are also kindly requested to report to their child's class teacher if they are bringing/collecting a child during the middle of the school day.
• We request that parents who wish to view the Kindergarten during school hours first report to the office, not visit a classroom independently.
• Drivers of all vehicles should observe the speed limit of 5mph and drive with utmost caution.
• Smoking is not allowed in the school classrooms, grounds or car parks at any time.
• Regular fire-drills are organised for staff and pupils each term.

Illness During Kindergarten Hours

If a child is unwell during the school day, class teachers will attend to their immediate needs. If a child should need to go home, the teacher will contact parents immediately. In the unlikely event of a child needing hospital attention, there are clear guidelines for procedure. Parents will always be contacted promptly.

It is essential that up-to-date home and business contact numbers, plus contact numbers of friends and neighbours willing to assist are submitted to the Kindergarten office on enrolment.

It is also vital that parents provide relevant and up-to-date information about their child's health.

Medication

Occasionally a child may be well enough to return to the Kindergarten but may need to complete some prescribed medication. In this case, parents are kindly requested to give the medication and signed instructions for dosage to the Chinese teacher in the class who will translate the instructions into Chinese for the school's resident doctor.

The child's correct dose will then be prepared and administered by the doctor. Parents should not request that teachers administer any medication to a child.

In special circumstances such as allergies or asthma, parents should inform teachers of essential medication.
