In the Reception Classes, teachers work together to develop children's individual strengths and talents.
The class follows the Foundation Curriculum, based on the English National Curriculum's Early Learning Goals. The Early Years Curriculum serves as a thorough preparation for progression into Year One. The English Foundation Stage Curriculum defines Early Learning Goals in six areas of learning. These are:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication, Language and Literacy
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Creative Development
Physical Development
At Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten our Reception pupils explore the six areas of learning via cross-curricular topics, structured activities and purposeful play.
In keeping with our school's global aims and philosophy, we value and place a balanced emphasis on the acquisition of an understanding of Chinese culture and language. A large part of the afternoon sessions of Reception are conducted in Mandarin.
